OUR STORY

A Heritage Spanning Over 100 Years

LeBras Farms is a heritage farm with a proud history spanning over 100 years. Established in 1913 by Jean and Marie LeBras and their four children, the farm stands as a testament to resilience and hard work. In the early years, the family faced significant challenges, navigating life in a new country while speaking only French. To make ends meet, Jean worked in local logging camps during Saskatchewan's harsh winters.

The farm began to expand in the 1930s with the introduction of tractors, and Jean's youngest son, Joe, joined him on the homestead. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the farm was rented out in 1965 for eight years. The LeBras farming tradition resumed when Joe's sons, Terence and Marty, were old enough to take over operations.

In the late 1980s, Terence and Marty diversified the farm by raising pedigreed alfalfa seed and leafcutter bees. This pivotal decision transformed their agricultural careers and became a cornerstone of LeBras Farms. Under their leadership, the farm grew significantly—from five quarters of land in the early 1970s to over 4,000 acres by the mid-2000s. They also expanded the bee business by custom pollinating neighbors' alfalfa fields and brokering bees to the United States.

Today, LeBras Farms remains committed to innovation, tradition, and excellence in agriculture, honoring the legacy of the generations who built it.
