A Heritage Spanning Over 100 Years

LeBras Farms is a heritage farm with a proud history spanning over 100 years. Established in 1913 by Jean and Marie LeBras and their four children, the farm stands as a testament to resilience, adaptability, and hard work. In the early years, the family faced significant challenges, navigating life in a new country while speaking only French. To support the family, Jean worked in local logging camps during Saskatchewan’s harsh winters.

The farm began to expand in the 1930s with the introduction of tractors, and Jean’s youngest son, Joe, joined him on the homestead. In 1965, due to unforeseen circumstances, the land was rented out for several years. The LeBras farming tradition resumed when Joe’s sons, Terence and Marty, were old enough to take over operations and continue building the family legacy.

In the late 1980s, Terence and Marty diversified the farm by introducing pedigreed alfalfa seed production and raising leafcutter bees. This pivotal decision became a cornerstone of LeBras Farms and significantly shaped its future. Over the following decades, they expanded both the land base and the bee business, including custom pollination and supplying bees to customers in the United States.

Today, LeBras Farms continues to evolve under the next generation. Evan LeBras returned to the farm full time in 2012 after completing his university degree and gaining experience as a grain merchant with Viterra in Regina. Jacey joined the farm in 2016, balancing her role on the farm alongside a career as a registered nurse. Together with Marty and Doreen, they have continued to grow and strengthen the operation.

While the scale of the farm has expanded, the focus remains the same: responsible land stewardship, continuous improvement, and a commitment to producing high-quality products. By combining generations of experience with modern practices and technology, LeBras Farms is positioned to carry its legacy forward while continuing to adapt in a changing agricultural landscape.
